  • Ronald Reagan was the greatest. says:

    0000

  • Hero of Bosnia says:

Id do it for positions that serve the public.

fire science, medical, law and ethics

  • real answers says:

Well we have this thing called scholarships. If you want one do well.

  • Progressive Sexy Babe says:

I would vote for it! i think are kids are saddled with debt by the time they finish school. Some owe as much as a mortgage when they are done! I am sure the typical response form the Republicans will be “NO” as they aren’t much on education anyway…it makes people think and Republicans cannot afford their base thinking.

  • Morgan says:

Should America have a free College Education (meaning taxpayer funded)? Nope. I had to pay my own way, so can all the others who want to go to school.

  • Block Me II says:

You mean like all illegal immigrants already do?

Free schooling? Yeah look ghow great that is working out for the public grade/high schools. They all S*CK.

  • Terran says:

No, we shouldn’t. We currently have the best college system in the world. It is our K-12 schools that need to be reformed, mostly by getting the politicians out of the school system. (or is that idea too conservative for you?)

Edit: Down here in Georgia, we have something called the HOPE Scholarship. In a nutshell, if you are a resident of GA, have a 3.0 GPA coming out of high school, and are able to maintain a 3.0 GPA in College, then Georgia pays for your tuition. Why do I support this system? First off, it is funding entirely by the Georgia Lottery, in other words, all taxes that fund it are voluntary, no one is forced to pay for it. Secondly, it rewards achievement and punishes failure, thus making people work harder.

  • Kevin B says:

Would you be willing to teach for free? Guess what? there really really is no such thing as Free. Trust me.

  • Rob says:

Why not free food? We need food and water to live, that’s the most basic of basic needs. So shouldn’t food and water be first as a gov’t provided product before anything else?

Why free college? And if free college, then why isn’t anyone arguing for oblama to feed and clothe us all for free first, before going to other things that aren’t so basic such as college.

Ick! This board is just full of disgusting nose-ring liberals.

  • Bawney Fwank says:

I’d be for it, but the government hasn’t been doing a good job w/ our public elementry-highschool system already…… we have the top universities in the world and I hope it stays that way, just think of it as an investment.

  • O'Ryan says:

Who is going to pay for it?

In case you haven’t noticed, we don’t provide this for everyone and we are still in massive debt. What would happen if we did just that?

  • Jerry says:

We are broke the free money day’s are almost over all get ready to pay your own way.

  • Nikki says:

    No.

This country needs grammar & secondary schools that teach kids basics. I tutor college kids who can’t find the cost of 1 can of beans at 3 for a dollar.

  • ruth says:

No. The people you would expect to pay for this had to pay their own way.

  • barry says:

you know they have government money for colleges, and other money to help, also state and city colleges are not that bad in price. so now if thee schools are far away from the students homes do you think we should pay for there transportation as well? maybe there room and board? why not for there books and entertainment right? why stop at free tutuation? btw obama is working on a program where they will pay the persons college if they do 10 years for the fed after school.

  • Ned says:

Nope. Lets just do what we always do: import eh best brains from China, India and Europe. BTW, my family is British and I have Chinese relatives through marriage; I dispute the claim that these countries simply “pay for college”, though it is true that they are more socialist in their approach.

I may be left-leaning, but this doesn’t stop me from understanding that nothing is free.

  • 1000 books says:

college is tremendously expensive especially universities-they should definitely figure out something to lower the cost of tuition.

  • LadySnowbird says:

NO… there is NO Free Lunch in this country. You work hard and get good grades. there are lots of scholarships and grants available for good students.

  • justagrandma says:

Right from the beginning we need to emphasize that intelligence counts. Instead we emphasize sports and ‘bring up the mediocre’. In other countries those that get into college take tough tests, really tough tests and those that don’t make the grade don’t take up a seat. For us to do that to make it count, we would have to change our way of thinking about those that aren’t so bright, not dumb or stupid, but those of average intelligence. Right now more of our dollar is being used to teach people who are mentally challenged how to write their name than is spent on enrichment classes for the bright.
A form of elitism that no one will want to pay for.
For the last fifty years its been thought the brightest will always manage without extras, and this is where we are today.

  • water_skipper says:

I actually asked a similar question a while ago. Everyone said it’s not practical because we need an underclass of losers to work at Burger King.
